Neville Scott Gay, Jr., 60, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at home.
He was born in Franklin County on Aug. 14, 1952, to the late Neville Scott Gay Sr. and Cleo Estelle Wilson Gay.
He was a former employee of Stewart Home School and a member of Fairview Christian Church, Lawrenceburg. Scott spent 40 years doing what he loved: drag racing and winning.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Barnett Gay; daughters, Constance Gay Lamb and her husband, Jacob Lamb, Kim Mayewski and her husband, Glenn Mayewski Jr.; stepson, Brent Campbell; stepdaughter, Dawn Campbell; grandchildren, Jesse Lamb and Cayden Mayewski; step grandchildren, Brey Gorrell and Tyler Lay; brothers, Ronnie "Squeak" Gay (Donna), Donnie Gay (Darlene); niece, Stefanie Taylor; and nephew, Chris Gay.
Memorial services for Scott will be held Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. The Rev. Leland Smith and Bro. Grant Mathes will officiate. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Thursday, Aug. 1 from 2 p.m. until the service at 7 p.m.
Bobby Fannin, Scottie Mitchell, Mike Henderson, Jacob Lamb, Glenn Mayewski Jr., Lowell Barnett, Jesse Lamb, Chris Gay and Brey Gorrell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
