Patsy Jo Curtis Smith, 76, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
She is the daughter of her 97-year-old mother, Phyllis Maupin Curtis of Georgetown and the late Earl Curtis.
Patsy was born in Stamping Ground, Ky., and received a B.A. degree in elementary education from David Lipscomb University. In her early years she taught in the Georgetown school system. On New Year's Day in 1958 she met her future husband on a Greyhound bus. They married and she followed him to Pittsburgh where taught preschool and lived for 35 years before returning to Kentucky. She has been a member of the Church of Christ since the age of 12 and a current member of the Overland Church of Christ. Recently, Patsy has fought a brave fight against Wegener's Disease.
Including her mother she is survived by her husband of 51 years, Warren Clark Smith; two children, Gary D. Smith and Kimberly Jo Jones (David); two grandchildren Chris and Rachel Graves; a sister-in-law Nancy Smith; four nieces, Krista and Shawn Igo, Jamie and Todd Akers, Amie and Rodney Kincaid, Robin and Wayde Miller; a nephew Ricky and Debbie Curtis; her beloved dog Luke; and her close friends June Denney, Betty and Glendon Demaree, Tom and Sara Morgan, Nancy Brown, Tom Yankee, Bill and Sandy Nichols, Shirley Keller, Al Gruber, Art and Lynn Gardner, Lillian Hardison, Larry and Linda Morgan, Harvey and Nancy Baker, Phyllis S., Forrest and Martha Morris.
She is also predeceased by a sister, Kay Ellis and her husband Randle, and a brother-in-law, Wayne Smith.
Funeral services were held March 25 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with minister David Lanius officiating. Burial followed in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rodney Kincaid, Todd Akers, Christopher Graves, Gary Brown, Tom and Larry Morgan.
