Ruby Osborne Smith

Ruby Osborne Smith, 95, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.
A native of Spencer County, she was the daughter of the late James Halisy and Iva Lee Cox Osborne, and the widow of Morris Smith.
A member of the First Christian Church of Taylorsville, she attended the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville.
A beautician, she worked for many years at Helen's Beauty Shop in Saint Matthews. She and her husband built and operated the old Valley Theatre on Main Street in Taylorsville during the 1940s and '50s. Her favorite pastimes included playing rook.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Donald Morris Smith and Barry Wood Smith, and her sister, Myrtle Brugh.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan Isham and her husband, Bobby, of Lawrenceburg; her daughters-in-law, Joan Smith of Taylorsville and Sarah Smith of Louisville; her niece, Grace Osborne of Mount Washington; her six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville with the Rev. Gary Mills officiating. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 4-8 p.m. at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville.
