Bernice Wayne Burke, 80, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at his home.

He was born Sept. 28, 1932 in Anderson County to the late William Ollie and Corinne Shely Burke.
As the owner of the Appliance Center, Bernice worked for 48 years as a HVAC contractor and appliance repairman.
He was a member of the Sand Spring Baptist Church and served as a former assistant Fire Chief and a member of the first Rescue Squad for the Lawrenceburg Fire Dept. He was a former member of the Lawrenceburg Planning & Zoning and a supporter of the Anderson Co. Bearcat Booster Club.
Bernice was an avid fisherman who loved spending time with his grandchildren and had a passion for growing flowers and helping people in need.
Bernice is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wilma Lowe Burke; four children, Carolyn (John) Rhodus of Lexington, Wayne (Christie) Burke of Lawrenceburg, Lori (Leo) Cox of Eckerty, Ind., and Myron (Kim) Burke of Rogers, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Lisa Osborne, Jennifer Parrish, Mary Parrish, Daniel (Brittany) Burke, Paul Cody Burke, Zander and Jagger Burke; three great grandchildren, Evan, Carson, and Bella; and a sister, Wilma Disponette of Lawrenceburg.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers Eugene and Stewart Burke.
Memorial services were held Sept. 10 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Gibbons officiating. The Lawrenceburg Fire Dept. will provide Fire Service Honors. Memorials are suggested to the Anderson Co.
