Billy Leon Bottom, 83, husband of the late Lillie Mae Chilton Bottom, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 at his home. Born July 8, 1934, he was the son of the late R.D. and Ethel T. Harmon Bottom.
Mr. Bottom was a retired employee of Sylvania in Versailles and served his county in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Claylick United Methodist Church and former member of the Stringtown Ruritan Club. He enjoyed fishing, raising cattle, and watching the Cincinnati Reds.
Mr. Bottom is survived by his two sons, Donald L. Bottom and Ronald L. Bottom of Lawrenceburg; his two sisters, Jean (Hunter) Casey of Lexington and Jewell Bottom of Harrodsburg.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by a son Shannon Bottom and 10 sisters and brothers.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 beginning at 11 a.m. at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Pastor Kenny Robinson and Pastor Charlie Shoemaker officiated the service. Burial followed with military honors at Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday.
Serving as pallbearers were John Kelly Chilton, Keith Wilson, Randy Bottom, Ricky Bowman, Kent Cox, and Musial Pearson. Honorary bearers were Marion and Ruby Frances Wilson, Mary Peyton, and Zella Monroe.
Memorials are suggested to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601.
