George Frank Blakeman Jr., 86, of Lawrenceburg, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at his residence.
He was the son of the late George Frank and Bertha Alpha Ruble Blakeman, Sr. He was a dedicated farmer, and member of Cross Keys Worship Center where he served as deacon and elder.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean McClease Blakeman, Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Debbie Scrogham, and Judy (Bobby) Peach, both of Lawrenceburg; two sons, Danny Ray Blakeman, Lawrenceburg, and George (Joy) Blakeman, Shelbyville; two sisters, Inath Cornish, Bardstown and Alpha Harley, Lawrenceburg; eight grandchildren, Jarrod, Daniel, and Austin Blakeman, Leslie Hemard, Robbie (Christy) Peach, Crystal Ackerman, and Aaron and Kristen Blakeman; 10 great grandchildren, Kay Lea and Cole Adam Blakeman, John and Kate Hemard, Tyler and Charity Ackerman, Zak and Dominic King, and Debra and Chelsei Poynter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Jasper Blakeman; a sister, Thelma Cornish, and a grandson, Dustin Blakeman.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. at Cross Keys Worship Center in Shelbyville with the Rev. B.J. McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Shelby County.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 after 10 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cross Keys Worship Center Building Fund, 1121 Dotland Circle, Shelbyville, KY 40065. Gash Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Casketbearers will be Jarrod Blakeman, Daniel Blakeman, Austin Blakeman, Cole Blakeman, Robbie Peach, Aaron Blakeman, John Hemard, Tyler Ackerman, Zak King and Dominic King. Honorary bearers will be the granddaughters.
