Ida Frances Armstrong Hughes, 79, of Lawrenceburg, widow of Garland Sherrill Hughes, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2017 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Wayne County to the late Benton L. and Nell Jones Armstrong. She was a member of First Baptist Church; 1956 graduate of Anderson High, and went on to graduate from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education; and retired after 29 years from teaching in Anderson and Jefferson County Schools.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Karyn Frances Hughes Collins, of Frankfort; three grandchildren, Matthew, Tara, and Chris Collins, all of Frankfort; sister, Mary Doris (Carl) Williams; and brother, Lawrence "Bud" (Margaret) Armstrong, all of Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2017 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mike Williams and Dr. Robert F. Ehr officiating. Burial will be in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Matthew, Chris, and Terry Collins, Paul Williams, Tony Woolums, and Mike Dickerson. Honorary bearers will be Gary Hughes, Carl Williams, and Bud Armstrong.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Anderson County Public Library, 1030B Industry Road, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
