Irvine Thomas Hawkins, 90, husband of the late Clara Louise (Pickard) Hawkins, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 at V.A. Medical Center in Lexington. Born Aug. 16, 1928 in Anderson County, Irvine was the son of the late Clarence and Cordia (Riley) Hawkins.
Along with his wife and parents, Irvine was preceded in death by Juanita Peyton, Zula Belle Darnell, Mary Catherine Thurman, Earl Hawkins, J.C. Hawkins, Floyd Hawkins, Paul Hawkins, Garland Hawkins, Leon Hawkins, and Maurice Hawkins.
Irvine was a retired employee of Jim Beam Distillery in Frankfort. A member of the Glensboro Christian Church, VFW Post #4075 in Frankfort, and American Legion Post #34 in Lawrenceburg. He enjoyed fishing, spending time on his farm, and loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed his 89th and 90th birthday celebrations with his family.
Irvine is survived by his three children, Irvine Thomas "Tommy" Hawkins, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Richmond, George Michael "Mike" Hawkins and his wife Kristy of Lawrenceburg, and Cordelia Rose Ferguson and husband Jim of Versailles; 10 grandchildren, Cecily (Nick) Minardi, Jessica (Dylan) McMaine, Kevin Watts, Mark Watts, Julie (John) Southworth, Robb Ferguson, Jessie Ferguson, Kathryn Ferguson, Virginia (Patrick) McNutt, and Monica Hawkins; 18 great grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald Hawkins of Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. The service was officiated by Terry Cooper of Ninevah Christian Church. Burial with military honors followed in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and after 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018.
