Jewell F. Logan, 75 peacefully went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 15, 2018 while at his residence in Portland, Oregon. He was born Sept. 25, 1942 in Lawrenceburg, son of the late William (Bob) and Lacey Logan.
Jewell gave his life to Christ at an early age by being baptized at Evergreen Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg. He graduated in 1960 from Lincoln Institute. During his senior year even though it was disputed, he shot the winning basketball shot that would have won the championship game against the Owensboro basketball team. In 1962 he enrolled in the Airforce for several terms while being stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. He served as a police and corrections officer for 4 years and was honorably discharged. He went on to graduate from Central State University in Dayton, Ohio and held a double Bachelors in Business and a Masters in Psychology. After graduating he worked as a Regional Sales Manager for the General Motors Corporation in Dayton, Ohio. He later moved to Portland, Oregon where he became a very successful Real Estate Broker and Investment Property Owner. Jewell was a very spiritual man and he always gave good sound advice. He was a very generous man to many and he even purchased a new sign for the Woodland Hills Cemetery, in Lawrenceburg. Jewell was a very talkative man who loved to crack jokes and dance. He always brought the life to any party with his fun filled spirit.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his two sons Ryan Johnson, of Danville, and Jeffery (Sherry) Bixler of Surgoinsville, Tennessee. Two brothers: George Hudson of Lawrenceburg, and Bobby (Cathy) Logan of Saratoga, New York, along with one sister Ann "Tootsie" Logan of Lawrenceburg. Grandchildren: Clarissa, Ashley, Erika, Cre, Kanitha, Mike, Little Jeff, Sierrah, Brittany, and Bethany. Great Grandchildren: Zoa, Amaya, Soraya, Brinley, Adam, Rylan, Aaliyah, and Little Jeff Jr., special friends Daniel Thomas, Harry Walker, Nancy Albrecht, Gloria Bergquist, Carol Mason, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and friends.
Including his parents he is proceeded in death by his sister Peggy (Logan) Warren, and great grandson Ricardo "Lil Rico" Carter.
A celebration of life will be held in his memory on May 12, 2018 at 1 p.m. with the family to receive friends at 12 p.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church located at 508 Lincoln St, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
Military honors will be held for Jewell at Camp Nelson National Cemetery 6980 Danville Rd, Nicholasville, KY 40356 on May 14, 2018 at 11 a.m.
