Death Notice

Joyce Isham Hughes, 81, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville.
She was a native of Mackville and had worked as a certified nursing assistant. She was a member of Shelbyville First Baptist Church where she was active in numerous ministries including Young-At-Heart, the Bereavement Committee, and the Heart Warmers Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the Lively Ladies Lunch group and enjoyed organizing bus trips to tourist destinations. She also spent her time helping with activities at Amber Oaks and Crescent Place assisted living facilities, as well as serving as care-giver to the elderly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Dean Hughes.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheri Lynn Wright (Joe) of Harrodsburg; her son, Terry Dean Hughes (Tina) of Georgetown; her brother, Robert Isham (Joan) of Lawrenceburg; her sisters, Brenda Schelly of Louisville, Kaye Kazuk (Richard) of Russell Springs, and Mary Jo Meyer (Jim) of Lebanon Junction; her grandchildren, Allison and Jacklyn Hughes of Georgetown.
Funeral services were Friday, July 7, 2017 at Shannon Funeral Home. Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth and Dr. Robert DeFoors officiated.
Visitation was Thursday, July 6, at the funeral home. Burial was in Peter Cemetery in Mackville. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Shelbyville First Baptist Church.
