Larry R. Kays, 70, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Jan. 5, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.
He was a native of Anderson County, son of the late Chester Lockhart Kays and Evelyn Shelton Kays. He was a long time L&N Railroad employee. He served in the Army National Guard and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his two sons, Lonnie Ray Kays (Janel) of Idaho and Joshua Kays (Christie) of Frankfort; his two daughters, Tonya Williams (Rob) of Virginia and Leslie Kays of Frankfort; three brothers, Allen Kays, Conley Kays (Debbie) and Chester Kays JR (Bobbie), all of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Debra Kays (Dee) of Bagdad and Patsy Bush (Terry) of Lawrenceburg; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special children in his life: Kim, Julia, Jeremy and Richard Roysden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Wanda Kays Camic and one daughter Jessica Kays.
Funeral service was Monday, Jan. 8 beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Richie-Peach Funeral Home.
Burial followed in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation was held prior to service on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Williams, Brandon Williams, Jeremy Robinson, Mike Helson, Jeremy and Richard Roysden.
Donations in memory of Larry are suggested to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601.
