Omer Wayne Scrogham, 68, Frankfort, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 unexpectedly at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late William Edgar "Peg" Scrogham, Sr. and Fannie Jane Barnett Scrogham. He retired as an inspector for Bendix Corporation in Frankfort, following nearly 37 years of service. He was a former member of Shelby Christian Church and a member of the former New Hope Baptist Church. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, tractor pulls and fishing and poker tournaments.
In addition to his parents, two infant children and two brothers, William Edgar Scrogham, Jr. and Charles Scrogham, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Sharon McGaughey Scrogham; two sons, Omer Wayne Scrogham, Jr. (Tina Irene Long) and Leon Ray Scrogham (Janna Rae Mink); seven siblings, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Sea of Shepherdsville, Lois Newton of Lawrenceburg, Ruby Hagerman (Paul) of Chaplin, Ellen Hellard (Morgan) of Fern Creek, Helen Coulter of Fern Creek, Robert Clinton Scrogham (Irene) of Alton and Floyd Lee Scrogham of Nelson County; one brother-in-law, Dale McGaughey of Shelbyville; three sisters-in-law, Darleen Jones and Kathie McGaughey, both of Shelbyville and Christine Scrogham of Taylorsville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; neighbors and special friends, Norma Jean and Millard Fields and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 at Webb Funeral Home with visitation 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Bro. Bill Hedges and Bro. Winfred Hagerman will officiate. Burial will follow at Highview Cemetery in Chaplin, where Bro. Paul Hagerman will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Bill Warman, Jack Meall, Larry Shouse, Millard Fields, Tommy Johnson, Roy Stivers, Brett McGaughey and Danny Wood.
