William E. Birdwhistell, 93, of Lawrenceburg, widower of Irene Birdwhistell, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Heritage Hall Health Care Center.
He was the son of the late Cleveland and Nellie M. Phillips Birdwhistell.
He was a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church for 80 years, where he was in the Fellowship Sunday School Class, and was deacon emeritus. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army, and retired from IGA in 1985, and worked for Model Market for 24 years.
He is survived by a sister, Annelle Ledford, San Antonio, Texas; niece, Kay Birdwhistell; and eight nephews, Mark D., Jack, Ben, David, Mike, and Bob Birdwhistell, Brent and Steve Owens.
Funeral services were held Dec. 5 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial followed in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Mark Birdwhistell, David Birdwhistell, Jack Birdwhistell, Harold Case, Mike Birdwhistell, Ben Birdwhistell, Floyd Scott and Glenn Birdwhistell. Honorary bearers were the Fellowship Sunday School Class, Deacons of Sand Spring Baptist Church, Ralph Smith, Vernon Sutton and David Drury.
