Robert Franklin James, 93, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Baptist Health Lexington.

Mr. James worked as a construction brick layer and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church.
His survivors include a son, Keith James and his wife, Zelma, of Versailles; three grandchildren, Regina James of Lawrenceburg, Tiffany Simmons of Ind., and George "Burt" Simmons of Lexington; a great-grandchild, Gage Simmons of Nicholasville; two sisters Edd Mae (Chicky) Crittened and Exie Davis; and a brother Charles Francis James, all of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clifforda Cunningham James, his parents Buel and Nora Mitchell James, a daughter Toni James, and a son Robert F. "Bobby" James, Jr., and a brother Robert William "Buck" James.
Graveside services with military honors was Monday at Woodlawn Hills Cemetery with Rev. Johnny K. Cunningham officiating.
Pallbearers were Burt Simmons, Norris Ingguis, James Gray, Donald Hudson, Ernie Guthrie, Albert Minnis, and Raymond Murphy.
