Morgan, James Russell - Terre Haute  
James Russell Morgan, 91, passed away on February 9, 2015 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born on February 21, 1923 in Washington, Indiana to Wilbur P. and Iris (Russell) Morgan. Jim (also known as Russ) grew up in Washington, Indiana. He graduated from Washington High School. He served in the United States Army (1942-45), the United States Army Reserve (1946-47) and Army Coast Artillery (1948-52). He attended the Kansas State College of Applied Science in Manhattan, Kansas. He worked for Public Service Indiana and also Jackson County Rural Electric in Brownstown, Indiana where he retired in 1987. Following retirement he lived in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Terre Haute, Indiana. Jim married Rosemary Charlotte Kirchoff on June 24, 1945 in Vincennes, Indiana. Jim and Rosemary would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church of Terre Haute, Indiana. Throughout his long life he was active in boy scouts, Kiwanis International, and in his churches. Jim enjoyed travel with trips to Europe and Australia. He also enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, and had a lifelong interest in tools and technology. Jim had also served as a volunteer fireman for the Danville, Indiana fire department. Jim is survived by his spouse, Rosemary of Terre Haute, his children (son James Joseph, twin daughters Carol Jane and Catherine Jean, and son John David) a brother, Virgil L. Morgan of Boone, North Carolina, and two sisters, Emily D. Walls of Brisbane, Australia and C. Suzanne Phillippe of Indianapolis, Indiana. Jim had 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial service will be held at Central Presbyterian Church, 125 North 7th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana at 2pm, February 28, 2015. His final resting place: Oak Grove Cemetery in Washington, Indiana. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations to be made to Central Presbyterian Church or the American Heart Association.
