Dorothy L. Pottschmidt, 86, Seymour, formerly of Brownstown, died at 10:25 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Schneck Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 26, 1925 in Seymour to the late William and Martha Wischmeier Darlage. On April 11, 1948 she married Clarence Pottschmidt at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2007.
Mrs. Pottschmidt was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown. She was a homemaker, a dairy farm wife, and worked with the Absentee Voter Work Force. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.
She was a very loving Christian mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her great-grandchildren were the highlight of her days. She really enjoyed the visits of family and friends. She was grateful and appreciative of the people who took time to play cards and visit with her.
Survivors include three daughters, Pam (David) Spurgeon of Freetown, Vickie (Ray) Gilbert of Seymour, and Bonnie (Stan) Schuerman of Riverview, Fla.; sister, Bertha Eggeman of Seymour; six grandchildren, Andrea (Brad) Pendleton, Lindsey (Drew) Schepman, Matt Sprugeon, Tyler Schuerman, Mandy Schuerman, and Quinton Schuerman; three step-grandchildren, Rachael (David) Parker, Sarah Busick, and Curtis Gilbert; four great-grandchildren, Lane Pendleton, Mack Pendleton, Luke Schepman, and Kade Schepman; and one step-great-grandchild, Rafe Busick.
She was preceded in death by both parents; husband; infant son, Max Pottschmidt; infant grandson, Jacob Schuerman; four sisters, Elsa Schroer, Erna Stahl, Adella Steinkamp, and Melba Pollert; and one brother, Victor Darlage.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown, with Pastor Jeff Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery, Brownstown.
Friends may call from 1 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church.
Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund, Lutheran Community Home Chapel Expansion, or Schneck Medical Center Foundation.
