Gary E. Plumer(1953 - 2014)

Gary E. Plumer, 60, of Cortland, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Schneck Memorial Hospital.
Gary was born and raised in Seymour on May 8, 1953 to Donald "Joe" Plumer and Deloris "Dee" (Coryell) Plumer. Gary graduated from Seymour High School in 1971.
After high school graduation, he began working full time on his family farm, Plumer (Hay) Farms, in partnership with his father. He continued farming every day and enjoyed "feeding the world."
Gary is survived by his wonderful parents, Joe and Dee Plumer and was the beloved husband of Laura Plumer, married April 2, 2005. Gary will forever be remembered by his devoted children Matthew (Malinda) Plumer, Erin (Benji) Reinhart, and Chase Plumer (fiancé Kelli Tormoehlen), treasured grandchildren Laney and Max Reinhart, loving sisters Belinda Hays, Betty Jane (Tom) Clark, and brother Todd (Nan) Plumer, nieces and nephews Lauren (Luke) Espelund, Drew (Allison) Clark, Taylor and Madison Hays, and Sam Plumer, and the newest addition to the family, great niece Nora Marie Clark, along with countless other friends and family whom were so very blessed to know him.
Gary was preceded in death by grandparents, Williard and Eva Coryell and Henry and Emma Plumer, great niece and great nephew Emma Jane Espelund and Asher Lee Espelund.
Besides farming, Gary loved attending Colts games and eating at Applebee's with his wife, family and friends, NASCAR races, spending quality time with family, friends, and spoiling his two precious grandchildren, the light of his life.
He loved rodeos and was co-founder of Jackson County Rodeo, Inc. Gary was extremely proud to be a part of the undefeated 1969-1970 Seymour High School basketball team.
Gary touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
Gary was a lifetime member of Central Christian Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 89, Knights of Columbus, Seymour Elks, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a Seymour Chamber of Commerce member.
He was also a member of the National Hay Association, supporter of the Jackson County Open Horse Show and Jackson County Fair.
With all of the activities he participated in, he was also an active member of the Blue Hole Board, and was proud of it.
Friends and family may call at Central Christian Church, 1434 West Second Street, on Thursday, May 1 from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 11 a.m. until time of service.
His celebration of life will be held Friday, May 2, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lewis Wright officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.
