Karen June Krauter, 62, Brownstown, died at 6:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Hoosier Christian Village after a prolonged illness.
She was born March 20, 1950 in Jackson County to the late Floyd Edward "Frog" Brewer and Estella May Scott Brewer. On Nov. 28, 1999
she married Edwin Krauter in Brownstown, and he survives.
Mrs. Krauter had worked for the DNR at the Vallonia Tree Nursery. She was a very open hearted, fun loving and caring person. She was a cook extraordinaire and a card player to be rekoned with.
Other survivors include her children, Timothy Clay Mitchell Jr. of Crothersville, Chris Mitchell of Bloomington, and Heidi Laura Nicole Carmichael of Bloomington; one half sister, Lena Sprague; and grandchildren, Timothy Clay Mitchell III, Victoria Mitchell, Madison Mitchell, Lucy Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Bradley Carmichael, Jeffrey Carmichael, Rebecca Carmichael, Elizabeth Carmichael, Faith Carmichael, and Benjamin Carmichael.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia, with Jean Pogue officiating. Burial will follow in Vallonia Cemetery.
