Kenneth L. Sovern, 85, Norman, died at 3:29 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 30, 1927 in Jackson County to the late Floyd and Muriel (Blair) Sovern. On Aug. 4, 1950 he married the former Delhia Wilson, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 2011.
Mr. Sovern was a World War II Army
veteran and retired in 1990 as manager of Superior Auto Parts. Prior to that he worked in Bedford for 10 years at General Motors
. He enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, and fishing.
Survivors include son, Zachary (Patricia) Sover; sister, Opal M. Pray; two grandchildren, Christina Mathisen and Mandy Sovern; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Mathisen and Jackson Mathisen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Jesse F. Sovern, Stanley Tod Sovern, and Robert Sovern; sister, Bessie Henderson; and brother-in-law, Robert Pray.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown, with full military graveside rites.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, and from 10 a.m. Friday until time of service.
