Ray Nelson Meahl, 74, Brownstown, died at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 11, 1938 in Vallonia to the late Roy and Louise Peters Meahl. On Aug. 21, 1993 he married the former Marlyn A. Hochstetler in Brownstown, and she survives.
Mr. Meahl was a member and elder of Brownstown Presbyterian Church. He was a U.S. Army
Veteran and a farmer. He served on the Fort Vallonia Days Committee for 20 years, and was a member of the Quails Unlimited, SWCD, VFW
Post 1925 of Seymour, National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. He graduated from Vallonia High School in 1956 and received his certificate in management from Indiana University
School of Business in 1968.
Survivors include his wife, the former Marlyn A. Hochstetler of Brownstown; two stepsons, Mike (Mitzi) Timberlake of Brownstown and Brad (Amy) Timberlake of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Leroy Meahl of Vallonia and George (JoEllen) Meahl of Salem; two sisters, Donna (Jr) Wessel of Brownstown and Roslyn (Linford) Robertson of Brownstown; two grandchildren: Zach and Meagan Timberlake of Brownstown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Brownstown Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brad Napier officiating. Burial will follow in Vallonia Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of service.
Memorials may be given to Brownstown Presbyterian Church, Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center, or National Association of Quails Unlimited.
