Charles E. (Chob) Jackson, 85, of Brownstown, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.
Chob was a member of the Brownstown Christian Church for over 50 years, the Brownstown Senior Citizens and the American Legion and the VFW. He was a US Navy veteran honorably discharged on August 18, 1954 and he had retired from Cummins Engine Co. While in failing health, one of his favorite past times was going with his son and care giver, Jerry Jackson, to McDonald's Restaurant or the Senior Citizens to scratch off lottery tickets. Jerry was very devoted in taking care of his father's needs for the last year or two.
Chob was also a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Born June 24, 1927 in Jackson County, he was a son of Dixon Orville Jackson and Ida May (Owens) Jackson.
Survivors include his children, Gary Jackson of Brownstown; Jerry L. (Debbie) Jackson of Brownstown; and Gail (Floyd) Penrod of Fishers, Ind.; nine grandchildren: Mendy (Bruce) Stahl, Ginger (Wes) Breeding, Jon Jackson, Jennifer (David) Pickering, Lacey Jackson, Angie (Wes) Hartley, Amy (Michael) Davidson, Abigail (Aaron) Duncan and Floyd (Daniel) Penrod, IV.
Eleven great grandchildren also survive
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife (Dorothy Jean Harbaugh Jackson), a grandson (Matthew Paul Polson), two sisters (Neveda Miller and Elsie Jackson) and seven brothers (Kenneth, Roland, Carol, Robert, Elmer, Orville and Virgil Jackson).
Funeral services will be conducted 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 9 at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown, with Michael Hogg officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
