Hubert Franklin Hackman, 78, Seymour, died at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, Indianapolis.
He was born May 7, 1934 in Brownstown to the late Amos and Katie Duwe Hackman. On Oct. 16, 1955 he married the former Mary Reynolds at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, and she survives.
Mr. Hackman was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. He was a member of the National Guard and was a farmer. He held various offices at St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, drinking coffee with his buddies, and driving the roads of Jackson County in his truck.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Reynolds; three sons, Mark (Laura) Hackman of Seymour, Greg Hackman of Seymour, and Brian (Lora) Hackman; two daughters, Julia Pranger and Susan (Greg) Zabor both of Seymour; three brothers, Omer (Alvona) Hackman of Brownstown, William (Sandy) Hackman of Seymour, and Leon (Becky) Hackman of Brownstown; a sister, Lois (Barry) Sommers of Brownstown; 12 grandchildren, Mandy Wessel, Melissa Stiller, Luke Hackman, Brittany Hackman, Tyler Hackman, Jessica Hackman, Jenna Hackman, Braden Pranger, Brendan Pranger, Brooke Pranger, Emma Zabor, and Ellen Zabor; four great-grandchildren, Lillie Wessel, Lincoln Wessel, Luna Stiller, and Harper Hackman.
He was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers, Eugene Hackman and Earl Hackman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, with Pastor Craig Muhlbach officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 1 p.m. Sunday until time of service at the church.
Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, and St. John's Lutheran School, Sauers.
Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, is in charge of arrangements.
