Kathleen Mae Roberts (1934 - 2013)


Kathleen Mae Roberts, 78, Brownstown, died 1:53 p.m. Friday, May 3 at IU Health-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born May 11, 1934 in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Charles and Ida May Atkins Edwards. On Nov. 6, 1953, she married Oscar "Jess" Roberts in Jackson County, Ind., and he survives.
Mrs. Roberts was a 1953 graduate of Clearspring High School. She retired from Standard Grocery Store in Franklin and Sylvania in Seymour.
She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 1925 in Seymour, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #655 of Seymour and Brownstown Christian Church.
Mrs. Roberts enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include two sons: Terry (Paula) Roberts, Walnut, Miss.; and Don (Cathy) Roberts, Brownstown; a sister, Irene Goen, Medora; seven grandchildren: Alicia (Kyle) McCrary, Amanda (Jaret) Terrell, Kara Roberts, Kyle (Julie) Warren, Hope (Ben) Sitterding, all of Brownstown; and Jessica Crum and Julia (Bobby) Bright, all of Miss.; and nine great grandchildren: Jacob and Lynnsie Crum, Miss.; and Laura Kate Terrell, Abram McCrary, Isaiah Sitterding, Matthew Sitterding, Emerson Warren, Marley Warren and Landry Warren, all of Brownstown.
She was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers: Clyde, Harry and Glen Edwards; and two sisters: Maime Harris and Hazel Charles.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, with Brian Richard and Rob Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at White River Valley Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Brownstown Christian Church Building Fund, Brownstown Christian Church Grounds Fund or Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #655 of Seymour.
