Randall E. "Randy" Miser, 75, Bloomington and formerly of Medora, died noon Thursday, May 2, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 26, 1938 in Sneedsville, Tenn., he was the son of Ernest Randall and Pearl Trent Miser. On July 9, 2003 in Tennessee, he married Jewel Brock Bannister, and she survives.
Mr. Miser was a retired bailiff with Jackson Circuit Court, a past Jackson County commissioner and assessor, and chairman of the Jackson County Democratic Party. He also was a former owner of Randy's Market for over 20 years, was a 50-year member of Medora Lodge #328 and a member of the Jackson County Fair Board and the Jackson County Detention Center.
Survivors include his daughter, Melissa (Tim) Robinson, Vallonia; a stepson, James (Beth) Beavers, Seymour; a stepdaughter, Rita (Thomas) Roberts, Vallonia; two sisters: Barbara "Bobbie" Kunz, Florida; and Iris Kay (Bud) Thorpe, Hendersonville, Tenn.; a grandson, Logan Randall Miser, Vallonia; and a great granddaughter, Kalen McCord, Seymour.
He was preceded in death by both parents; a stepdaughter, Tammy Kinney; and a stepson, Joseph Beavers.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, with Pastor Jack Belk officiating. Internment will follow at Zollman Cemetery, Medora.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday May 5 and from 10 a.m. until time of the service Monday at the funeral home. A masonic service will be conducted by Medora Lodge No. 328 at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
