Ronald Lee Kidd, 60, Crothersville, died 9:59 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Greenwood.
He was born July 28, 1952 in Seymour, the son of Clarence and Carolyn (Wolka) Kidd. On Feb. 24, 1973, he married Susan Eckelman at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Columbus. She survives.
He was a 1970 graduate of Brownstown Central High School and a member of the Tampico Baptist Church.
He retired from Jackson County REMC in 2003 as a right-of-way coordinator after 38 years. He also owned and operated a family Christmas tree farm for several years, which he really enjoyed.
Ronald was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and papaw. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and teaching them how to do things.
He always put his family first and was eager to help others.
He enjoyed being outdoors, deer hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, woodworking and watching NASCAR races.
Survivors include his mother, two sons, Brian and Andy Kidd, both of Crothersville; a daughter, Melanie (Ryan) Barker, Seymour; two brothers, Bill (Marlis) Kidd, Seymour, and James (Karen) Kidd, Brownstown; four grandchildren: Sydney Kidd, Braden Kidd, Jada Barker and Jarrett Barker; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his young son, Adam Mark Kidd; his father; one sister, Ellen Sue Pennington; father-in-law Maurice Eckelman and mother-in-law Marian (Kuehn) Eckelman.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 29 at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Memorials may be given to , Tampico Baptist Church or Zion Lutheran Pre-School.
