Ruby Maude Boyles, 87, Taylorsville, Ky. and formerly of Medora, died at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at Green Meadows Healthcare in Mt. Washington, Ky.
She was born Sept. 18, 1925 in Fort Ritner, Ind., the daughter of Hubert Dixon and Mary Nichols Dixon. On Feb. 12, 1944, she married Medford H. Boyles in Riverdale, Ind. He died Dec. 18, 1986.
Mrs. Boyles attended school at Fort Ritner for eight years, then attended high school in Tunnelton, Ind. She graduated in 1943.
She and her husband owned and operated the Boyles Grocery. Her husband was post master and she was the assistant post master in Fort Ritner. On July 14, 1970, she started working at Bedford Medical Center in Central Supplies. From July 1975 until her retirement until 1989 she was director of purchasing. She also worked at Hague Funeral Home for several years.
She was a member of the Medora Christian Church.
Survivors include three daughters: Sue Ann (Darrell) Todd, Taylorsville, Ky.; Kaye Lynn (Hubert) Bough, Scottsboro, Ala. and Pamela Joe (Carl) Hutzler, Brownsburg, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Hubert Thomas (Kaye) Dixon, Martinsville, Ind. and three nephews: Steve Turner, Scot Turner and Billie Joe Turner.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Rose Turner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 4 at Hague Funeral Home, Perry and Riley streets, Medora, with the Rev. Stan Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Dixon Chapel Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 and 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday, April 4 at the funeral home.
