Floyd Morton "Mort" Palm, 84, Sandusky, formerly of rural Bellevue, died at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013.
"Mort" was born in Green Springs, Ohio, on Dec. 15, 1928, to Floyd Russell and Dorothy Jane (Howey) Palm.
He attended Green Springs High School through the 11th grade, then graduated in 1947 from the former York High School. He enjoyed gardening, farming, all outdoor activities, big band music, photography and reading.
In 1988 he retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad after 40 years of service.
On March 28, 1948, he married Wanda Karnes; she survives, as do their children, Roger (Dorothy) Palm, Gibsonburg, Jon (Diantha) Palm, Lorain, and Suzette (George) Rubel, Bellevue. Nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive. His sister, Jan Jones, of Evansville, Ind.; and sister-in-law, ClaraBelle (Richard) Mengus, Claraton, Pa., survive as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, Clyde, with the Rev. Scott McCutcheon and the Rev. Paul Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in York Chapel Cemetery.
