Jacob Zeller, 28, of Bellevue, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Stein Hospice Care Center after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
He was born Feb. 23, 1985, in Sandusky, the son of Rick Zeller and Sam (Budd) Reau.
Jake was a 2003 graduate of Bellevue Senior High School. He then graduated from Tiffin University in 2007 earning a bachelor of arts degree in accounting. Jake worked for Ballreich's in the Columbus area as an area manager.
Jake had a passion for the game of golf. He was a member of the Bellevue varsity golf team during high school. He was a member of Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, where he was a two-time club champion in 2008 and 2010. He recorded a hole-in-one in 2008. He was an avid Buckeye fan who loved being around his family, especially being "Uncle Jakey" to his niece and nephews. Jake will be known to many as a hardworking and fun-loving guy. Jake was someone who always cared for others before himself; he exemplified this during his fight with cancer, as he never complained about his hardships, and was always eager to know how someone else was.
He will be missed by his father, Rick Zeller, of Bellevue; mother, Sam Reau and step-father, Tom Reau, of Bellevue; brothers, Jason (Angie) Zeller, of Upper Sandusky, and Jude Zeller, of Sandusky; a sister, Jami (Craig) Claar, of Bellevue; step-brothers, Zach Reau, of Columbus, and Jake Reau, of Bellevue; girlfriend, Kari Phillips; a niece, Ellie Zeller; nephews, Easton Zeller, Carson Claar, and Justin Reau; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Eileen Zeller; maternal grandparents, Ardis and Ed Bikulcius; aunts and uncles, Bob (Sam) Zeller, Chris (Ron) Brooks, Marilyn (Bart) Ramon, Amy (Chuck) Gittinger, Laurie (Charlie) Paul, Ruth Natole, Geralyn (Ron Daniels) Goodsite, Alvie (Sharon) Zeller, Kathy (Ted) Moore, Heidi (Brian) Zeller, and Christopher Budd; and special supporters, Kit Hetrick and Pat Wiedle; all of his golfing buddies at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course; and his many close friends who offered their support.
He was preceded in death by his uncles, Roger Zeller, Timothy Budd, and Anthony Budd; and a cousin, Timothy Budd.
Friends will be received on Friday, May 10, from 2-9 p.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where a wake service will be held at 1:30 p.m. At the family's request, Ohio State apparel is encouraged to be worn to the visitation.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue, Ohio 44811. Burial will follow in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all the members of "Team Jake" for the overwhelming support provided during this difficult time and would also like to thank Ashlea Weiker, The Sports Hut, Paul Ruffing, Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, Ballreich's and the Bellevue and surrounding communities for their support during Jake's fight.
