Alfred R. Collier, 77, of Clyde, died at his home on Sunday, December 29, 2013.
Al was born in Unionville, Michigan, on February 7, 1936, to the now deceased Ray and Alta (Weible) Collier. He graduated from Unionville High School. From 1953-1956, he served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Collier had been the plant manager for Atlas Industries prior to his 1998 retirement. He attended Grace Community Church. He enjoyed fishing, golf, camping, boating, and bird watching. His grandchildren were the joy of his life.
On December 28, 1981, he married Barbara J. Schlosser. She survives as do five daughters; Jessica L. (Brian) Wood, Rittman; Kathleen A. (Bob) Caster, Green Springs; Denise Matson, Arlington; Shawn Tyler, Florida and Dawn Seigo, Michigan. Along with one son, Gary Collier. Mr. Collier is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; along with his sister, Pete Smith, Michigan.
Alfred was preceded in death by two brothers, August and Clifford Collier; and one sister, Alice Magiera and two infant sisters.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde. The funeral will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Forrest Kirchenbauer officiating.
Burial will be in the Veteran's Section at McPherson Cemetery with military honors provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
