Anthony Joseph Sberna (1930 - 2013)

Anthony Joseph Sberna, 92, of Bellevue, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born May 24, 1920, in Bellevue, the son of William and Grace Sberna. He married his wife of 66 years, Marjorie (Nobles), on Nov. 23, 1946, in Bellevue.
Tony was a farmer and salesmen. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the former Club Amer-Ital. He enjoyed bowling and was known by many children in town as the "Tootsie Roll man." In 2005, he authored "Ohio Cities Criss-Cross Reference Directories." In 2010, he set the world record for deadlifting 207 lbs. at the age of 89.
In addition to his wife, Marjorie, he is survived by three daughters, Margaret (Gene) Welty, of Bowling Green, Grace (Jim) Middleswarth, of Bellevue, and Joletta (Dennis) Flannigan, of Fairfield, Ohio; three sons, Joseph (Kathy) Sberna, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ted (Sandi) Sberna, of Georgetown, Ky., and Walter (Tammy) Sberna, of Bellevue; one brother, Carl (Marcia) Sberna, of Bellevue; and sisters, Caroline Dragotta, Mildred Dragotta and Phyllis (Sam) Fricano, all of Milwaukee, Wis., Josie Dorfmeyer, of Toledo, and Mary Macias, of South Bend, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, William "Butch" and Anthony J. Jr.; a great-grandson, Tyler; four sisters, and two brothers.
Friends will be received on Sunday, May 5, from 3-7 p.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Burial will follow in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
