CLYDE - George Edwin Peters, 94, of Clyde, died at the Bellevue Care Center on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013.
Mr. Peters was born in rural Sandusky County on Oct. 9, 1919. He graduated from the former Townsend High School in 1939.
George was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery, and Townsend Ruritan and had volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He was a farmer and had retired from Great Lakes Sugar Co. in 1987.
On Feb. 10, 1952, he married Catherine Koser. She preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 2010.
Three children, Wendy Pritchard, Antioch, Calif., Marilyn (David) Ring, Fremont, and Lee (Sandy) Peters, Clyde, survive. Also four granddaughters, Heather Ring, Cara Ingebrigtsen, Diana Thompson, and Rachel Peters; a brother, William (Dorothy) Peters, Vickery; and sister, Thelma Munson, Canal Winchester, survive. Six great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Ellis and Bertha Mae (Beckman) Peters; and a sister, Betty Burkett.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde.
The funeral will be on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery, with the Rev. David Klappenbach officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery, Clyde.
