WOOSTER, Ohio - Teresa Michelle Pauling Canfield, M.D. passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, surrounded by her family and close friends.
Teresa was born on March 27, 1968. She graduated salutatorian from Dexter High School, Mo., with the Class of 1986. She graduated from Southwest Baptist University, in Bolivar, Mo., Class of 1990, with a dual major in biology/chemistry. Teresa graduated from the Medical College of Ohio, Class of 1995, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She pursued her residency through Marshall University at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., graduating in 1999.
Teresa worked for the Cleveland Clinic Women's Health Center in Wooster, Ohio, from September 1999 through October 2008, serving as Chair of the Department beginning in 2006.
Teresa is survived by husband, Scott; children, Allison and Shane, of Wooster, Ohio; parents, Mark and Margaret Pauling, and sister, Angela Martin, of Old Fort, Ohio; sisters, Meredith Hansen and Sheri Overmyer, of Bellevue and Bettsville, Ohio, respectively; nieces, Melody and Brandie Hansen, Marah Overmyer, and Anna-Marie and Rachelle Martin; nephew, Christian Overmyer; and her mother-in-law, Gay Canfield, of Bellevue.
Teresa will be dearly missed by family, friends, colleagues in the Wooster medical community, and her patients and their families throughout northeastern Ohio.
Graveside services were held at Foxfield Preserve, in Wilmot, Ohio, with the Rev. Randall Gehres officiating. Pallbearers were Scott, Shane, Barton, and Chase Canfield, Jason Henthorn, and John Schaeffer.
