BELLEVUE — Miriam "Mim" Aim Barnhardt, 92, formally of Lima, passed away May 2, 2014, at 1:02 a.m., at The Willows of Bellvue.
She was born August 22, 1921 in Lima, the daughter of Karl and Edna (Schlanker) Renz, who preceded her in death.
Mim was a graduate of Lima Central High School in 1939. She then graduated from Flora Stone Mather (Case Western Reserve) in 1943. She then married Paul Barnhardt in 1943 who preceded her in death in 1977.
Mim was director of Christian education for Christ Episcopal Church in Lima and taught German at Shawnee School. She was a volunteer at Lima Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. She was a member of a literary club, several bridge clubs, was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and doing crosswords. Mim was always known for her brave acceptance of what God has given her and for her "great words of wisdom."
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Karl and sister, Claudine Grady.
Survivors include: Son, Bob (Michele) Barnhardt of Lima, daughter, Kathryn (Owen) Collins of Bellevue, six grandchrildren, nine great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Roberta Barnhardt, New Jersey, and a special friend Lucy.
Services were held Monday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services Shawnee Chapel, 1170 Shawnee Rd. Lima, Ohio. Rev. Jerry Hall officiated.
