TIFFIN — Barbara A. Elchert, 76, of Tiffin, and former Bloomville resident, passed away Saturday evening, June 7, 2014, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
She was born March 2, 1938 in Sandusky, to Rueben and Gladys (Rife) Frederick. She married Donald "Speed" Elchert Feb. 1, 1964, and he preceded her in death Nov. 1, 2004.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Brissell of Tiffin, two sons, Joe Elchert of Toledo, and Greg Elchert of Tiffin, six grandchildren, Joey, Jamie, and Justin Elchert, Heather and Josh Mc Daniel, Jessica Moreheart, and six great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Steven, Allyna, Shirell, Damarius, and Makenna, two brothers, George and Jim Frederick of Bellevue, four sisters, Lillian Yetter of Castalia, Luci Garman of Sandusky, Virginia Stimson of Norwalk, and Karen Whitlatch of Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Charles, and a sister Eleanor Osmon.
Barbara was a registered nurse at Mercy Tiffin Hospital for 39 years, retiring in 2003.
She was a former Bloomville Lioness, and also enjoyed going camping and spending time her family and friends.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville, with Rev. Jeff King officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Bloomville.
