OREGON, Ohio - Dorothy L. Toll, 100, of Oregon, Ohio, and a native of Bellevue, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2013, at her residence with the Little Sisters of the Poor in Oregon, Ohio.
She was born Feb. 28, 1913, the daughter of Walter and Mame Nims.
Dorothy was a graduate of Bellevue High School, Hillsdale College and did her graduate work at the University of Michigan. She was a social worker with the Detroit Children's Aid Society for a number of years, did substitute teaching in Bellevue, Clyde, and Monroeville Parochial Schools and later established a small business from her home.
She married Charles Toll in 1941 and reared their family in Bellevue where Charley was employed with the former Bellevue Lamp Plant, retiring in 1973. Dorothy has enjoyed many happy years at the Sacred Heart Home, participating in activities and the spiritual life which the Sisters provided.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charley, in 1983; son, Michael, and daughter, Anne.
Dorothy is survived by her dearly loved family, daughter, Patricia (Norman) Fitzpatrick and their loved ones; daughter, Sister Mary Jo Toll, of the Sisters of Notre Dame; children of Michael: Abby and Jake, of Chicago; family of Anne: Dennis (Kathie) Macel, Andrea, Connie, Sara Beth and Bella of Houston.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday at Little Sisters of the Poor - Sacred Heart Home at 11 a.m.
