Christopher Thomas Ricupero, 38, beloved husband of Maggie Ricupero (Zapala) and father of Dominic and Lila Ricupero, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2013. Chris was born in Waterbury, and he lived there until 2005 when he and his wife purchased a home in Berlin.
He attended Kennedy High School in Waterbury, and Becker College in Worcester, Mass. where he earned his physical therapy Assistant degree. Chris was employed as a firefighter
for the City of Waterbury for seven years, and then as a dedicated PTA for Access Rehab until the birth of his son, when he then became a stay-at-home father.
Chris is survived by his wife of ten years, Maggie Ricupero of Waterbury; and his two precious children, Dominic, 6, and Lila, 2, who he referred to as "his world." In addition, he is survived by his amazing and loving parents, Tom and Barbara Ricupero of Waterbury; and his loving sister Corinne Ricupero of BristolT; devoted in-laws Richard and Diane Zapala of Newington; grandmother Hazel Kidulas of Madison; and brother-in-law Tom Zapala. Loving aunts and uncles include Jackie and Bob Hunter, Jayne Schumacher, Sharon Diaz, Lisa and Phil Leonardi, Jim and Joanne Paolino, Garry and Marie Wallace and Dave and Judy Laudati. Chris will be terribly missed by his loving cousins including Jim Paolino, who was like a brother to Chris, his wife Ellen and their children, Jake and Megan, Chris's goddaughter. Also Jack Paolino, Becky Mulder, Sara Vincent, Elizabeth Schumacher, Adriana and Elena Diaz, Amanda Leonardi and Christina Leonardi, Chris's goddaughter, Darren and Devon Wallace, Aaron and Adam Laudati and Chris's childhood best friend Lenny Wilson Chris is predeceased by grandparents Ann and Sal Ricupero, Stanley Kidulas and godfather David Ricupero.
Chris loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He devoted his life to his wife and children and they adored him. Some of his favorite pastimes included exercising, home improvement projects with his dad, taking his children to the park and play dates and vacationing in Maine with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Chris's great smile and sense of humor will remain in our hearts forever!
Services were held April 4, 2013 from the Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, Waterbury followed by a mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial was flowed in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.
