Harry Frank Sampl

KENSINGTON - Harry Frank Sampl, 91, of Kensington, widower of Emily Eleanor (Zadrowski) Sampl, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at home with his family at his side.

Born in Kensington, son of the late John and the late Mary Sampl, he attended Berlin Schools, was employed at Ferndale Dairy, served in the U.S. Army in World War II where he received two Purple Hearts, and retired from Atlantic Machine Tool in Newington. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, and a third and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Maureen Sampl, of Enfield, and Richard Sampl, of Meriden; a brother, John Sampl, of Kensington; four grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica, Kevin, and Rebecca; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Carson, Ethan, and Owen; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Eileen Sampl.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 22, from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, with a funeral liturgy at St. Paul's Church on Alling Street. Burial was followed in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
