CROMWELL - Donald M. Volz, 85, of Cromwell, the loving husband of Odelie (Gilbert) Volz for 58 years, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Wadsworth Glen in Middletown.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Frederick and Margaret (Gracy) Volz. He grew up in the Belvedere section of town and later became an engineer for Stanley Works in New Britain. Donald was in the U.S. Air Force, serving his country honorably in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and the Elks in Ft. Pierce, Fla.
In addition to his beloved wife, Odelie, Donald leaves his daughter, Cyndi Sheftel and her husband, Barry, of Cromwell; his sister, June Fitzgerald, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held directly at Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church St., in Newington on Friday, July 25, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place privately and there will be no calling hours. Memorial donations in Donald's name may be directed to the
