MIDDLETOWN - Emilio J Laurenza, 97, of The Village at South Farms, Middletown, formerly of Wallingford, beloved husband of Maria (Ricci) Laurenza, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Middlesex Hospital.

He was born in Meriden the son of the late Francisco and Maria Giovanni (Cuccaro) Laurenza Sr. Emilio was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Past member of the parish's Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus and lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was employed for 25 by SNET, retiring in 1979 as a supervisor in building maintenance department. Prior to that he worked for Pembek Oil in Meriden and Arthur Yale Farms. Emilio was an avid gardener. His love of flowers, fruits and vegetables always put joy in hearts of those who loved him.

Besides his wife Emilio is survived by his two children, Joanne L. Pfluger and her husband, Karl, of Cheshire, Joseph A. Laurenza and his wife, Wendy, of Haddam; two grandchildren, Jamin J. Laurenza and his wife, Iris, of Haddam, Jodi F Laurenza, of Haddam, who took his care to heart; four great-grandchildren, Dante, Devin, Makiya and Vyvyan Laurenza; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five siblings.

A funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday at Saint Francis of Assisi Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be privately held at Sacred heart Cemetery in Meriden. There are no calling hours.
