NEW BRITAIN - Stanley R. Wolak, 95, of New Britain, died Friday ,Aug. 1, 2014, at an area convalescent home.

Born in Depew, N.Y., he lived most of his life in New Britain. For many years he owned and operated the Whitestone Double Security Alarm Business and later was employed at the New Britain Furniture Store. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, was very active at the New Britain YMCA, even in his 95th year and was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force Veteran. Early in his life, he enjoyed performing Magic Shows at family events. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Ann (Piecuch) Wolak, who died July 1, 2013.

Stanley is survived by his daughter, Bonnie LaPorte and her husband, Rocco, of Berlin; two granddaughters, Lauren and Kristen La Porte, of Berlin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Adam Wolak, William Wolak and Marcel Wolak; and a sister, Jennie Hudak.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 4, with a Mass of Christian burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 655 East St., New Britain. Burial was followed in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain.
