Floyd Earl Betts, 89, died at his home Oct. 3 after a short battle with lung cancer.
Floyd was born in Byers to Louis Earl and Della Belle (Pickerel) Betts. He was the sixth of seven children. A long-time resident of Dacono, he could be seen walking every day and always took the time to say hello or nod his head to anyone he passed.
Floyd enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law, Tug, and his son-in-law, Larry, gambling for the weekend in Las Vegas with his friend Ray, or for an hour on a Saturday morning in Black Hawk. Most of all, he enjoyed having a home-cooked meal and a visit with his family.
His parents; three brothers, Russell, Bill and Burl; sisters, Dorothy and Nettie; a newborn baby, Cathy Rae; and his former wife, Ann Snyder preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sister, Wilma Faye Fletcher; his four daughters, Jackie (Tom) Banks, Marcie Betts, Janis Boyd and Julie (Larry) LaFave; six grandchildren, Amanda Bonner, Sara Morrow, Stephanie Kiel, Derek Underwood, Joshua LaFave and Ryan LaFave; six great-grandchildren, Amy Bonner, Alex Morrow, Juniper Morrow, Raimi LaFave, Morgan Kiel and Riddick LaFave; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends he made over the years.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the American Legion Hall, 870 First St., Firestone. A light lunch will follow in the Legion Hall.

I am very sorry for your lost. I too have lost a loved one close to me and can imagine how difficult this time is for you and your family; but its uplifting to know that God promises us in Isaiah 65:17 that there is a near future in which we will no longer feel such pain. This as helped me and I hope it helps you as well.
