Dale R. Alter died peacefully in his sleep at the Denver VA Nursing Care Unit at the age of 98. He has joined Dorothy, his wife of 71 years, in Heaven.
He was born in Omaha, Neb., and lived mostly in Nebraska, Colorado and Arizona. He was the owner of the Ben Franklin Store in Brighton, Colorado for about two decades. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was active in the Brighton Rotary, Elks, Chamber of Commerce, Hospital Board and City Government. Dale was an avid golfer, dancer and card player. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, friend and gentleman.
He is survived by three children; daughter, Mary Jo (Bill) Egan, of Brighton; son, Robert (Karen) Alter, of Westminster; daughter, Marti (Peter) Alter-Cudlip, of Silverthorne. Dale has seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation, PO Box 871847, Kansas City, MO 64187-1847.
