Janette Gladys "Jan" DeBerard, 81, died Oct. 16 in Mesquite, Nevada. She was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Swanton, Ohio, to Robert Reed and Vernena Sadie Cunningham Ball.
She married Arthur Connel DeBerand July 17, 1966, in Denver.
Jan grew up in Swanton. She earned her associates degree, then worked at various companies providing bookkeeping and payroll services.
She was a devoted wife and mother, always supportive of her husband in his 30-year military career and for her sons' activities. Upon relocating to Logandale, Nevada, in 1995, she volunteered many hours to the Lost City Museum. With others, she helped to found the Mesquite, Nevada, Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, of Logandale; two sons, William "Bill" (Stephanie) of Brighton, and Daniel "Dan" (Jacqueline) of La Grange, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Preston, Danielle, Gabrielle "Gaby", Austin James (AJ)and Bailey; two brothers and one sister: David (Lois) Ball of Toledo, Ohio, Kenneth (Linda) Ball of Gary, Indiana, and Ruth Mills of Richmond, Indiana.
A sister, Peggy Lee, preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Mesquite Lutheran Church, 450 Turtle Back Road, Mesquite.
