Sam Wagner, 96, of Brighton, passed away Oct. 21. He was born
April 7, 1922, in Hudson, to Philip and Mary Elizabeth (Wolfe) Wagner. Sam attended schools in Tonville, Colorado. He married Irene Tautfest Wagner Aug. 31, 1947, in Brighton.
Sam owned and operated his own farm all of his life. He was an Army veteran who served in WWII. He was involved in the Southern Philippines liberations and received the Philippine Liberation Service Medal with one bronze star, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service medal and Victory medal, the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), along with a good conduct medal.
Sam was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Northglenn and a lifetime resident of Brighton. He was a successful farmer well into his 90s in Adams, Washington and Arapahoe counties. He was a faithful, generous man who loved his wife and family dearly and was committed to his lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Brighton; a son, Robert Davey (SueBeth) of Westminster; a daughter, Cynthia Lea Wagner of Brighton; grandchildren, Justin Bruns, of Atlanta, Joshua Wagner, of Brighton, Laura (Yusuke) Okita, of New York, New York, Joshua (Mindy) Wagner, of Brighton, Jennifer (John) Harvey of Clovis, New Mexico, Jordan (Annabelle) Bruns, of Denver, and Jaclyn (Brandon) Patterson, of Santa Rosa, California; and three great-grandchildren, Savannah and Preston Wagner, and John Harvey IV.
Visitation was Oct. 26 and the funeral service was Oct. 27, both at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton, which handled the arrangements. Interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery, Brighton.
