Keith E. Alquist, 88, of Clay County, Kan., passed away Feb. 19, 2013, at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kan.
He was born May 12, 1924, in Clay County, Kan., to Emery and Kate Elizabeth (Lyne) Alquist.
He served as a Merchant Marines during World War II. He married Ruth Hickok May 28, 1969. Ruth preceded him on Feb. 4, 2004.
He is also preceded by two sons, Phillip and Bobby; a sister, Lillian Gilbert; brother, Wayne Alquist; and a grandson, David Newsome.
He is survived by his daughters, Connie Newsome, of Sedro Woolley, Wash., and Christine (Brady) Sauder, of Manhattan, Kan.; sons, Keith (Julie) Alquist II, of Brighton, Jim (Laura) Smith, of Topeka, Kan., Bill (Janet) Smith, of Salina, Kan., and Eric (Michelle) Alquist, of Clay Center, Kan.; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Feb. 23, 2013 in Clay Center, Kan. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kan.
