Gordon "Marshall" Rodgers, 80, of Conway, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014.
He was born Jan. 26, 1934, in Brinkley, Ark., to Beverly and Lillie Rodgers.
After graduating from Brinkley High School, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, and then spent his career with Greyhound Bus Lines as an Accountant. He had a passion for God, family, and Little League Baseball. Marshall was of the Assembly of God faith and attended Faith Church in Conway. He was a kind, generous man who loved helping to lighten the load of others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Randy Rodgers of Concord, Calif.; his former wife, Rowena Barker Rodgers of Michigan; his brothers, Earl, John, Grady, Ben, and Thomas Smart, and Merlin Rodgers; and his sister, Geneva Smart Moody.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Adell Sutterfield Rodgers, whom he doted on and loved dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Rodgers Loux; son, Jeff Rodgers of Concord, Calif.; daughter, Terry Rodgers Richetti of Long Beach, Calif.; step-sons, Dirk Sutterfield (Beverly) of Greenbrier, Lyle Sutterfield (Iva) of Conway, Bruce Barker (Holly) of Greenbrier, and Brian Barker of California; step-daughter, Joan Barker of California; and 11 grandchildren.
A Memorial to honor the life of Marshall Rodgers will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Faith Church, 1655 Middle Rd., Conway, AR 72032.
A special time to visit with Ms. Adell and family will be at the church from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Jan and Debbie, the staff at Seeds of Love, and Hospice Home Care, for making Marshall's transition a peaceful one surrounded by love and prayers.
