Thomas "Tom" E. Cheney, 82, of Greenbrier, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013.
He was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Bradley, Ark., to the late Lee and Lorena (Thomas) Cheney.
Tom was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret and Marie; and his grandson, Eric Olson.
Tom was a 20 year veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was a member of the Jennie Baptist Church and was the owner/operator of Tom's Auto Sales in Greenbrier. Tom was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching John Wayne and war movies. He loved to tell stories about his childhood and war experiences. Tom was a loyal and caring friend.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia; sons, Mike Cheney of Bend, Ore., and Randy Cheney (Pegge) of Greenbrier; daughters, Sandra Richter (Enrico), and Kathy Cheney, both of Greenbrier; brothers, Travis Cheney (Stephanie) of Fayetteville, Ark., Horace Cheney (Connie) of Bastrop, La., and John Cheney (Eileen) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Madeline Burgess of Prattsville, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Chris, Jason, Aaron, Lisa, Tricia, Cheney, and Matthew; six great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, 501-679-2575.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Faulkner County or favorite charity.
