Vernon Leonard Cantrell, 91, of Conway, formerly of Oil Trough, died Monday.

He was born in Charlotte, Ark., on April 3, 1922, to Charles Leonard and Mary Frances (Greenfield) Cantrell.
He worked at Countryside Mobile Homes in Newport more than 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, camping, being outdoors, telling jokes and square dancing. He also volunteered for the Special Olympics.
Survivors include sons, Jerry Cantrell of Fresno, Calif., and Danny Cantrell of Conway; stepson, Michael Gunter of Pine Bluff; stepdaughters, Janet Scudder of Morrilton, Judy Altom and Tammy Gunter, both of Batesville; 12 grandchildren, Creighton Cantrell, Marla Nelson, Jera Stevens, Krista Cantrell, Dena Clark, Elissa Pitman, Scherri Richburg, Matthew Gunter, Kelly Jo McCarver, Curtis Fitzpatrick, Aranda House, and Ryan Altom; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Hackworth of Newark.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Nola Mae (Foster) Cantrell; his second wife, Lois (Gunter) Cantrell; brothers, Leamon, Woodrow, Bill, Hansel, and Ray Cantrell; and sisters, Pearl Baker, Bertha Gipson, and Edith Fields.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at White River Baptist Church, Oil Trough, with Greg Antley, Clint Pitman, and David Pace officiating.
Burial will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery, Rosie, by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home, Batesville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-Crouch, Batesville.
