Juanita Purifoy Obituary

Juanita Lucille "Pete" Purifoy, 94, of Greenbrier, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2012.
She was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Holland, Ark., to the late Thomas J. and Fannie Walters McGaha Garrett.

In her church, she was next to the oldest member, Mildred Land, (97) her cousin being the oldest. Lucille was employed as a welder during World War II, worked as sales clerk in various places, but the most important job to her was mother, wife and homemaker. She loved the outdoors and tending to her flowers. Lucille had a great sense of humor, and always had a joke to tell.
Lucille is survived by her children, Fred Purifoy (Jana) of Holland, Maureen Fiddler of Heber Springs and Kathy Pearce (Ronald) of Holland; grandchildren, Fritz Purifoy of Odessa, Texas, Sheryl Pollock of Jacksonville, Phyllis Smith of North Little Rock, Kim Evans of Fort Smith, Robert Bailey of North Little Rock, Tim Pearce of Holland and Carla White of Conway; great-grandchildren, Trey Hearon, Stephen Hearon, Justin Pearce, Haley White, Kaylen Pearce, Hannah White, Hope White, Bailey Evans, Garrett Evans, Luci Pollock and Sam Pollock; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at Holland Baptist Church, with Bro. Larry White officiating.
Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Greenbrier, 501-679-2575.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Garrett, Jim Garrett, Paul Garrett, Charles Carter, Trey Hearon and Stephen Hearon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Carter, David Garrett and Ronnie McGaha.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holland Baptist Church Building Fund, 673 Hwy 287, Holland, AR 72173.

My Aunt Pete was such an inspiration. Couldn't have asked for better! Because of her, I excelled in piano playing, having pounded on that old one she had in the back bedroom.
She sent me birthday card for many many years. My heart is there!!! Miss my Aunt Pete!!!! I was Jim's daugher!!!

To the family: As you grieve of sadness may the "hearer of prayer" help you to endure this time of sorrow and grant you peace. My deepest condolences. (Psalms 65:2)

It always saddens me to hear of the crossing over of another of my parents good friends and peers. Especially so when my recollection of visiting there, with Maureen and Freddy on Sunday afternoon is still vivid some sixty five years after my last visit.

Maureen, Freddy and Kathy, please accept my sincere condolence. Wish I could be in attendance to celebrate the life of your precious mother.

Please accept my deepest condolences. I am praying for strength and comfort for all of the family at this time. Aunt Pete was special to so many of us and I will always remember the fun times at her house as a child.
