Mary Estelle Bates Fowler, 74, went to be with the Lord Aug. 20, 2014, at Salem Place Nursing and Rehab Center in Conway after a lengthy illness.
The first born of Garland Lee Bates and Doris Inez Lyndsey Bates, Estelle graced the world on August 1, 1940 in Quitman. She worked in retail and the grocery businesses around Conway her entire life. She had a love for kids and a passion for her sewing and puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Hubert Franklin Karber and Marvin Allan Johnson; grandson, James Franklin Karber and brother in law, Kenneth Estell.
She is survived her husband, Harry Rayburn Fowler; Sons, James (Theresa) Karber of Quitman, Larry Karber and Wayne Fowler of Conway; daughter Mary (Richard) Lupo of Monroe, LA. Siblings; Francis (Dwayne) Grantham of North Little Rock, Phyllis Estell of Malvern, Gerald (Judy) Bates of Garland, TX, Judy (Henry) Lawrence of Greenbrier, Olen Bates of Conway, Edna (Randy) Forde of Vilonia and Dorris (Randy) Rogers of Conway. Grandchildren, Jennifer Warrior, Shannan Karber, Joey (Kayle) Baker, Shawn Davidson, Angelica Gillion and Austin Fowler. Great grand-children, Nicky Karber, Mani Acosta, William Sellers, Lincoln and Landon Baker and numerous of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Acosta, Dan Borlin, John Edwards, Kevin Fowler, Shane Gordon, James Karber, and Richard Lupo
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with the Rev. Don Chandler, Rev. Mike Lefler and Rev. Darrell Spigner officiating. Burial will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Roller-McNutt.
